  • THE NEXT TEST

The ACE test, widely used by mental health professionals, asks 10 questions that help determine how childhood trauma is influencing a person’s present-day experiences. The NEXT test, based on principles from The Success Paradox book, asks 13 questions about present-day experiences that will affect future experiences.

If you answer Yes, circle that question’s number or note it. Some of the questions may be difficult to answer. Trust your first intuitive response. Add up your “Yes’s” to determine your NEXT score. You can download and print out the test here.

1 Most of the time, do you let things happen, rather than make them happen?

2 Do you have a healthy, loving relationship with your father?

3 Do you cooperate easily and are known as a team player?

4 Is knowing that you’ve helped others always more important than getting paid?

5 Are you comfortable with making big changes when necessary and have done it successfully?

6 Are you always careful to do things right the first time or do you often have to do them over again?

7 Do you agree that your true value is determined more by who you are than what you do?

8 Are you skilled at voluntarily course correcting your moods so that you don’t take risks with extreme euphoria and/or remain
depressed long enough to worry your friends?

9 Do you believe that you can change your memories with your future actions?

10 Do you believe that your experience is determined primarily by you vs other people and circumstances?

11 Do you understand and agree with the term “I’ll see it when I believe it?”

12 Do you believe that the attitude you have doing something always shows up in the results you achieve?

13 Do you have a primary, loving relationship with a higher power (by whatever name)?

WHAT DOES YOUR NEXT SCORE MEAN?

A score of 13 points means that you are living an empowered life, enjoying being yourself, helping others, and reaping the rewards. High NEXT scores indicate well developed self-worth, a stable and evolved personality with strong leadership capacity, and the ability to create and enjoy lasting, loving relationships and a productive career.

A score of 9 or less suggests help would be useful to improve life and work experience. Each Yes and No question deserves thoughtful consideration, providing an open door for understanding more about yourself.
